Perform reliable water quality observations by using our Modern Forel-Ule Scale Toolkit.

Our Modern Forel-Ule Scale (FUS)Toolkit allows a user to accurately determine and classify the colour of natural waters. The user simply compares the colour of the water under investigation with the colour scale/palette held above a Secchi disk at half the Secchi depth. This method is interesting for limnologists, water managers, oceanographers, marine biologists or simply anybody interested in our environment. The measurements taken with the FUS can be used to detect water quality changes in rivers, lakes, coastal water or open water. Please click below for more information

A trusted method for measuring water quality through colour comparison.

The Forel-Ule Scale is a simple tool to approximate the color of bodies of water and is used in limnology and oceanography. This measurement requires the FUS toolkit which includes the colour palette of 21 different colour bars ranging from indigo-blue (index 1) via green (index 10) to cola-brown (index 21) and a Secchi Disk (30 cm in diameter). The Secchi disk has an attachment mount to connect a weight and rope. The color of the water body is compared to the Modern Forel-Ule scale colour palette. The result is a color index for the water body which can for example be used to identify gross biological activity.
